Orbell Cup
Orbell Cup Presented by W.H. Orbell, secretary of the Timaru Golf Club in 1906 the Orbell Cup has been played for regularly since then, with the exception of the war years. Originally played for between Otago (Balmacewen), Christchurch and Timaru the Orbell Cup is now played for annually between the Timaru and the Christchurch Golf Club and with over 100years of competition, it is the oldest annual mixed competition still running in the Southern Hemisphere. The Orbell Cup is currently held by the Timaru Golf Club after our win last year at Levels. This year the competition will be held at the Shirley Links in Christchurch on Sunday 20 October. The day will start with a meet and greet in the clubhouse at 8.45am followed by a 9-hole foursomes match starting at 9.30am. The singles matches will start from 12.00pm with an expected finish time of approximately 5.00pm when a light dinner and presentation of Trophies will take place. |

Annual Subscriptions
Our membership fees cover only
52% of the current club expenses, so even with the fantastic work of volunteers
and fundraising we unfortunately still need to make a small increase to our
membership rates to help cover the ongoing expenses, which include an increase
in the NZ Golf and Aorangi District membership levies, while also being able to
continually improve the facilities we all share at the Club. Our membership for the 2019/2020 year are due on the 1st October 2019. We have adopted the Dotgolf Subscription system from the 1st October. Your membership renewal notice will be sent to you soon via your email address, or handed to those members without email contact. |

South Island Masters Teams Competition
Over the weekend teams from Aorangi, Canterbury, Otago, Southland and Tasman competed for the South Island Masters Interprovincial title. Our course was very well prepared which the players certainly appreciated and commented on. This is a real credit to our hard working team. Saturday morning saw challenging weather conditions but by midday this all changed for the remaining day and a half of intense competition. Aorangi Golf oversaw the competition and at the end of play Ginny Bolderston presented Canterbury with the hard earned trophy. |
