Ladies Golf
Email from Cath Preen

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME 2020

A fun year ahead, the year of the Rat.

Well this is my first and last email for the year. From now on you will receive all information via the newsletter once a week so you will be fully informed of what is happening in the club ,the sixes, the 9 holers, 18 holers and also the men. So it's up to you to read it.

The programme for the year has been completed and hopefully you will have your books by the beginning of the season if not shortly afterwards. Opening day is looming 18 holers weekenders 1 Feb, 9 holers 30 Jan and Tuesday players 4 Feb. Now is the time to get on the phone and invite a visitor. I'd like to think you all know someone from another club to invite. I’m sure Pat Barrie would love to come and there are plenty more out there especially from Temuka and Pleasant Point who have their golf day on Wednesday. Opening day for both 9/18 holers please bring a plate.

OPENING DAY SYSTEM FOR BOTH 9 HOLERS & 18 HOLERS

Canadian Foursomes. The following is the system for opening days.

18 holers are welcome for the 9 holers opening and likewise 9 holers are welcome for the 18 holers.

We will be operating out of the pro shop.

Names ( surname and initial ) entered at the pro shop by 9.20am, ($5.00 as per usual if at opening on a Tuesday and $2.50 if at opening on the Thursday )

If you bring a visitor enter her name and yours together. $5.00 for your visitor but that is up to you how and who pays though it would be thoughtful to shout her.

After registering have a casual chip or putt on the practice green, a chat, shop or whatever takes your fancy while we are pre printing the cards.

Between 9.20-9-30 the cards will be preprinted.

Draw done 9.30

Completion of the round, manually enter your card with your opponents and put your card in the slot.

Bear with us if we have glitches and be patient.

Saturday Play and system

8-9am Men

9.30-9 Holers / Sixes

11.30a.m Women 18 Holers ( classified as those who work during the week and are unable to play on Tuesday)

You will play together however if the numbers don’t work out you are welcome to play in the men’s field off the yellow tees. This will always guarantee you a round of golf regardless of who turns up. If you are not in the competition make sure you press the correct key at the kiosk, this refers to those putting in an extra card.

Men's competition. Those playing in this will tee off at noon or 11.30 ( if you are making up the women's numbers but you must tell them you are teeing off early ) Tee off the yellow tees when the men hit off the white and off the white tees when they hit off the blue. Money, pay as the men do $6.00 and enter at the pro shop.

Completion of your round all cards will go into the slot to be scanned.

Noon Men Multi Tee Start.

9 & 18 Holers Weekly System

We again will be operating out of the pro shop.

Arrive get your card at the kiosk making sure you tick the appropriate boxes.

Go into the shop, leave your card and pay your appropriate money for your day.

Whilst waiting for the draw to be done, shop, chat, or have a practice putt or chip again whatever takes your fancy.

Draw will be announced from the pro shop.

At the competition of your round, manually enter your opponents card and put your card in the slot with ME ( manually entered ) on the right side of the card or a big tick on the right side of the card.

Again bear with us if we have glitches. New systems take time to perfect and people hate change. Smiles on your dials please.

Shared Lunch

Like the 9 holers, we will have a shared lunch once a month after golf with a meeting to discuss issues, tournaments etc. The first of these will be on the last day of the Barbara Angus 28 January as we need to discuss the teams tournament coming up at the end of Feb as the poster needs to go out and I will need help.

9 Holers

Apart from LGU days we would love any 9 holers who would like to join on a Tuesday and play with us then drop off after 9. This would improve your play plus give us all a variety of people to play with as our numbers are small. Just like the others put your card in at the pro shop. No payment for you of course as it is just an extra card.

Sixes

Look forward to seeing you all again as we start on Monday January 20.The team is ready and Ange has put together an exciting programme for you whereby you will gradually learn more about the game of golf and understand terms such as nett, par, stableford etc. whether you play 2,6,9 or 18 holes. Challenge - Bring a friend along with you on Monday. Men welcome.

I know there is change in the air and you can smell a rat but it's with the idea of trying to bring us together as a whole club not small divisive groups and work towards a happy happy year with a programme that has been adapted to create space for many fun activities plus lots of competitive golf. Make a huge effort to keep your club day free and turn up to golf and enjoy peoples company afterwards. The more that turn up the more fun it is.

Keep your eyes alert for Rosies gobbler which will appear somewhere around the ladies room and I'm working on a Preen Par competition.

Cheers Cath
