IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM NZ GOLF

To All Golf Clubs and District Associations

Dear All,

As advised on Friday, the limited playing of golf will be possible at Alert Level 3.

In order for golf to have this opportunity at Alert Level 3, we must follow the guidelines as set out by the government.

New Zealand Golf has been reviewing tee bookings as they have been made in advance of the country moving to Alert Level 3 on Tuesday. Members of the media and non golfing public are also watching tee booking sheets very closely.

Pleasingly, it seems that so far golf clubs are doing an excellent job of communicating the guidelines and players are respecting the terms by which golf can be played for the next few weeks. Thank you all for your help with this.

Based on the queries lodged with New Zealand Golf, we felt it might be useful to provide clarity on two matters:

  1. Play is only possible for those playing alone or playing with others from within their bubble.
  2. At Alert Level 3, the government has stipulated that you can only expand your bubble a small amount to bring in close family, isolated people or caregivers.

Clubs are required to strictly adhere to these guidelines and, while we of course need to trust our members, we recommend you carefully monitor all bookings to ensure they meet these guidelines.

If we as a golf sector fail to adhere to the guidelines, it is almost certain that the playing of golf will no longer be permitted at Alert Level 3. We all need to continue doing our bit in the fight against COVID-19.
