On Sunday 30th August our course will be closed for the Orbell Cup. This venue for this event alternates each year between the Christchurch Golf Club and our Timaru Golf Club and is one of the oldest golf competitions in New Zealand.
General play on our course may be available from after 4pm

MEMORANDUM

To: All members selected to play against the Christchurch teams

Subject: Annual Golf Match – Timaru v Christchurch

Thanks for confirming your availability to play in the annual match against the Christchurch Golf Club for the Orbell Cup and Centennial Salver, to be held at the Levels Course on Sunday 30th August.

The following are the arrangements made for what promises to be another memorable occasion – for the record Christchurch hold both trophies and we want them back!

Sunday 30th August 2020

§ Plan to arrive at by 8.45 - an early morning tea will be served in the Club House.

§ Golf begins at 9.30 am – Mixed Foursomes over 9 holes,

o ORBELL CUP Teams – Playing the back nine - Match Play “off the stick”. Men Even Tees

o CENTENNIAL SALVER Teams – Playing the front nine – Match Play on handicap. Men odd tees

§ Lunch at approximately 12 noon in the Club House.

§ Food to Buy

§ Singles Match Play – anytime from 12 noon

o ORBELL CUP – Match Play “off the stick”.

o CENTENNIAL SALVER – Match Play on handicap.

§ Dinner and Prize Giving after golf – Meal @ $30 per person.

§ All food and refreshments are on the basis of “pay for your own”.

§ Team uniform for golf:

o Ladies – the standard team uniform

o Men – a Club Shirt (similar Blue Polo if don’t have a club shirt) with black/dress trousers

NOTE: the dress code is recommendation only not compulsory

Women's Golf News

Championship rounds have started. If you are playing an opponent on Tuesday put your name in as a two off number one tee.

The others will play off number 10 tee in a three or four depending on numbers.

The nine holers are going to join us this Tuesday so after the first nine we will drop back to one person picking up one, two or three 9 holers depending all on numbers.

Should be a fun day and it is putting for those who are not playing champ matches. Keep the number of putts and give Cath the number at the end of the round after you have manually entered your card.

Rosie has progressed to the next round after Wendy and her going to the 20th!! Kerrie had a win over Miriam 4/3

In the sixes Nic Cur had a win over Raggie. Anne-Marie had a win over Jenny. Well done you four to see you all enjoying your golf.

Tournament We will be operating this under the guidelines of Covid 19 level 2 unless this changes this week in the covid 19 update announcement. As we will be not providing morning tea (so don’t bring a plate) we will have fruit on the course so if you all could bring some fruit on Tuesday - apples, mandarins, grapes, pears or bananas it would be hugely appreciated. As food is all provided so the cost of the tournament is now $25.00. Raffles please leave in the office. Raffles will be drawn while we are playing. Briefing will be at 10.15am outside the pro shop. Its our Irish tournament so to set the scene its green green green. Anyone got any green tablecloths ? Members would look good in your green hats if helping about the place. Carol sourcing some tops. It's another fun fun Irish day.

Home away Tournaments Carol, Morna and I went to Lower Waitaki and played in the fog and narrowly missed the prise list. Morna and I played in the Rakaia Canadian foursomes and both proved it was an extremely hard game to play !

Tournaments Coming Veterans at Ashburton Monday 31 August. I'm unable to go to this ( of course I’m so young!!!) It would be good if a few of you could go. Please give it some thought.

As lots of you will have potted up plants for our house and garden which got sabotaged can you please bring your wares out to golf on Tuesday as on the Thursday at a table we will have a plants table .Dress them in green .Will see how it goes nothing ventured nothing gained.
