Ladies Captain's Report

Hi All

Whoop whoop whoop-House had a hole in one on 15 last Tuesday. Very exciting a wood to the hole and it didn’t look like missing. Well done Kathy.

Autumn foursomes have just passed at Gleniti. After three days of foursome match play Morna Hogan teamed with Helen Chegwin and had a flight win. Cathie Preen teamed with Sue Murray from Awatere and lost in the semi finals of the autumn Foursomes Cup 2/1 to Carol Bates and Jenny Stephens from Tai Tapu.

Xmas tournaments are about in December and January so look up your calendar as I’m signing off now until we start back in late January.

Sadies-Rosie Carruthers / Wendy Smith

Sixes will continue .However enjoy your golf.

Cheers Cath

...and finally
The weather this week reminded me of the UK, echoing an inability to decide on which season it is, what with starting off niece and warm, and ending up with fires being lit throughout Timaru today

Yesterday saw thunderstorms, and I was concerned for anyone out on the course, I trust they all made their way safely back to the clubhouse and drowned their sorrows, ruing the missed opportunity of the round of a lifetime that they were in the middle of, before the weather had the temerity to intervene.

I looked up some stats for lightening strikes, and apparently Florida is the most common place for people to be struck by lightening, with golfers being disproportionally represented - hardly surprising, it is asking for trouble to wave a metal stick over your head in the middle of a thunderstorm.
What was surprising was that only about 10% of strikes are fatal. It is hard to imagine that for the 9 out of 10 survivors, a lightening strike is going to help your game (it might get you out of the yips I suppose, conversely it might make them worse of course), still as excuses go for missing a shot, it is hard to beat.

Overall, however, I think it would be better for your health to acknowledge that any bad shots are generally down to a LOFT issue (Lack Of F'ing Talent) - as even wounded pride allows you to touch a door knob without making you jump a foot in the air and make your hair stand on end

Stay well & play well
