Welcome to 2022
Presidents Newsletter

Welcome to the new year and another year of enjoyable golf at our great course

We had our first committee meeting last night and I want to share with you some of the items on the agenda.

It’s wonderful to start the new year with new club members.

Last night we approved 15 new members in various categories. That is a incredible. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged the new members to join our club. A great start to the year.

Patron, Honorary and Life Member policy

We have adopted written policies for the above categories. I have attached these to this newsletter.

It is important that we give due status to these member categories . The criteria and nomination process is prescriptive for good reasons.

Thank you to Mike Hogan for writing these documents.

Grounds

We have had a wonderful, somewhat wet spring and summer. The fairways are fabulous. I don’t remember them ever being as good as they are now.

The rough is a challenge. We grew the rough for the Women’s interprovincial but it has kept on growing!

We realise the length is causing some grief for wayward shots. To remedy this much of the thick rough on the front nine has been sprayed and areas on the back nine will be mowed and bailed and then sprayed. The objective is to allow the spindly fescue grass to grow and suppress the rest.

The fairways have had a first cut along the edges . This looks great.

After a great innings Harvey King has resigned from the grounds committee. We thank Harvey for the incredible innings he has given to the team. Harveys resignation has created some reorganisation within the grounds team which continues to undertake a wonderful job.

Covid - The traffic light rules

I have attached the Golf Club Guidance rules. It is detailed explanation of the guidance. The first page is a good summary

The club house is open to people with a vaccine pass. Numbers are limited to 100. Please scan in with your covid tracer.

Practice social distancing.

The pro shop is open but requires the use of face masks on entry. Please limit spacing.

Everything is in place to proceed with the build which should commence on or about 14th Feb.

Good golfing..the new year calendar for men should be available very shortly.
