....and finally
Well it was a day for the long irons yesterday, does anyone still carry a one iron?  Perfect for those days when the wind howls and keeping the ball close to the turf is key. Also, co-incidentally, it is the only club that you can play when lightening is around, as everyone knows, even God can't hit a 1-iron

I did keep an eye on the news yesterday as I was concerned about some of our lighter members (I'm looking at you Barrie), I was a bit worried that they wouldn't have anchored themselves to their trolleys, the idea of errant golfers flying above the airport next door would have been a nightmare - the amount of health and safety forms I would have had to fill out is no joke.

We also saw the least exciting back 9 in Masters memory this week (no disrespect to DJ who was relentlessly brilliant), however, I have passed on the thanks of every golfer in the word to Tiger Woods. Arguably the greatest golfer of all time (although I still lean towards Jack Nicklaus for that award), was humbled by a 160 yard par three (about 145 metres for the metric fans out there).

For those that missed it, his shots were as follows:

1 - tee shot slightly short, spun back off the green into the creek
2 - drop
3 - pitch shot slightly short, spun back into the creek
4 - drop
5 - pitch over the green into the back bunker (woohoo, it's dry!)
6 - the most awkward stance possible with the ball on a down slope results in a thin across the green....into the creek (sugar, no it's not!)
7 - drop back into the bunker
8 - same terrible stance, splash out onto the green (why didn't I do that first time? - Welcome to our world, Tiger)
9 - missed putt
10 - tap in

Golf is the greatest of levellers, and fair play to Tiger for doing the post round press conference and not biting the reporters head off when asked about the hole (apparently he committed to the wrong wind) - I imagine he still would have shown us all up yesterday though!

Stay safe, keep your feet on the ground and play well
