President's Newletter
There has been a huge amount of governance activity in the first six months of the year, and there are a number of matters I need to communicate to you all

Caterer

Lara of ABC Catering was unfortunately head hunted from us. Fred has been busy finding a replacement . We are fortunate that Paul and Lynette Hawker from Spit Roast will take over the catering at the club form 9th June

We will have to make do with Pies and sausage rolls in the interim. The bar has been busy and working well with the team of volunteers. This decision to self manage will significantly help the club finances

Golf Carts and storage of Carts

This is a issue that needs to be addressed. The committee is urgently researching the purchase or leasing of golf carts. It is regretted that we have few short term options to answer this demand

There will be a meeting of all golfers who have a carts, who may wish to purchase a cart or hire carts on a regular basis. The meeting will discuss storage options, fees for storage of carts, purchase of carts, hire policy, and management of the cart storage facility.

DATE:  TUESDAY 8th June
TIME:   7 PM at the Club House

This is a really important meeting

Club Complaints Policy and Disciplinary Procedure

The committee has approved a policy and procedure for complaints. This will shortly be uploaded to our web page.
You may wonder why we need this. If nothing goes wrong and we never have a complaint then the answer maybe not, but if we do have a complaint and it escalates into a serious matter you absolutely need a policy.

Club Pro

The committee have been seeking solutions to the replacement of Willie Moore of Moore Golf.

It was never an ideal solution having a golf prof based in Cromwell with the availability of lessons on a limited basis. The opening of the shop, availability of balls and equipment, hire of golf carts and range balls has been a big step up from where we were. Darrel and Alec have done a great job in running the shop.

The committee have reached an agreement with Peter Hayes Golf who trades as "P and M Golf Ltd" to take over the pro responsibilities. This is a new chapter for golf at Timaru. Please welcome Peter and Margaret to Levels.

The shop will be open 6 days a week, Tuesday to Sunday

Peter will take lessons on a regular basis at Timaru and will divide his time equally between Timaru and Gleniti.

Peter is a progressive, enthusiastic marketer of golf in South Canterbury and wants to grow golf in the area. We see this as a win win for Timaru, Gleniti and local golf

Peter can not start until 17th July. In the interim the match committee will run the starting, hire of practice balls on Wednesdays and Saturdays and run the competitions.

As ever, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or another member of the committee

Thanks for your time
