Some interesting Golf Facts

Hole-in-one

What is the chance that a golfer will make a hole in one?

  • Tour player making an ace: 3,000 to 1
  • Low-handicapper making an ace: 5,000 to 1
  • Average player making an ace: 12,000 to 1
  • Two players from the same foursome acing the same hole: 17 million to 1
  • One player making two holes-in-one in the same round: 67 million to 1

Tiger Woods was only 8 when he got his first hole in one.

The 5 year old Coby Orr was the youngest golfer to shoot a hole-in-one. He did it in Littleton, Colorado in 1975.

Norman Manley, of California, holds the record for most hole in ones with 59. Manley shot his first hole in one in 1964 and aced four holes in 1979. That's not too bad considering the odds of hitting a hole in one are roughly one in 40,000.

Golf Caddie

The origin of golf term ‘Caddie' comes from Mary Queen of Scots use of French cadets to help her play while she studied there.

Golf Quote of the week
Quotes from NZ's Michael Campbell
I miss the hangi, and Mum’s paua fritters … but I knew, at the age of 12 that I had to sacrifice that.
Michael Campbell

Life isn't about doing things great all the time. Life is about learning off your bad mistakes. And also having the desire to win and to be the best that you can possibly be.
