Freyberg Tournament
|
|
Over the past week our course hosted the Freyberg Tournament. This involved 15 provincial teams from the length of New Zealand. Phil Aickin from New Zealand Golf heaped praise on our course and on the wonderful work of all our volunteers. This was the first course the tournament had been run on where it was run by volunteers and Phil was quick to note that our course was one of the very best the tournament has ever been played on! This was backed up by the players who spoke so well of our course and of the organisation over the week and of the warmth of the welcome they received. Special thanks to ALL members who gave of their time in so many ways to ensure the Tournament was the success that it was. Huge credit to the grounds team for the course preparation leading up to the tournament and then for the many, many hours they put in over the week. Thanks also to Brian Leonard for his organisation and for his co-ordination with NZ Golf. As a Club we had a week we can be very proud of. Congratulations to Bay of Plenty for taking home the trophy. Marcus Lloyd from Bay of Plenty was named Player of the Tournament. Canterbury was placed second and Wellington third. |
