...and finally
I somethimes think that golf is akin to fishing - there is an almost wistful element to both sports, as we sit down afterwards and ponder what might have been?

If only those putts had sunk; or if only I hadn't shanked my bunker shot the full length of the first green and then 3 putted (there is a reason that is so specific)

You get the idea.

Anyway, it is no wonder that upon the completion of a less than successful round of golf, that thoughts occasionally turn to the idea of getting in a bit of practice before the next round

Being honest, I am not normally one to hit the practice area straight after a round, even if I had the time, the inclination is more towards rest than the false promise of instant improvement.

Maybe I am just lazy

I was, therefore, impressed by one of our members (a fellow immigrant from the Northern Hemisphere - I won't mention any names, but he comes from a country with an over fondness of leaves, syrup and police officers mounted on horseback) who was spotted after leaving the club on Saturday afternoon, parked on Douglas Street and making an almost surreptious approach towards the putting green at Highfiled with the relevant club in hand

What was wrong with our putting green? I have no idea.  Why the furtive approach from across the road?  Also no idea

My hat, however, is suitably doffed to anyone striving to improve at our most frustrating game

Stay Safe, play well and I look forward to seeing you out there soon

Steve

PS Don, hope the practice helps
